Self Care and Self Love:
How to take care of your own self.
Self love is defined as “love of self” or “regards for one’s own happiness or advantage”. Whereas Self-care is the individual practise of health management without the aid of a medical professional.
Why self care and self love is important?
Caring for our own self relaxes our brain cells, reduces stress and helps maintain a good sleep pattern too. Self-love allows us to be vulnerable and unafraid to reach out for help. Self-love isn’t just important, it’s essential. When we love ourselves, we can set healthy boundaries and make healthy choices for ourselves. The way we feel about ourselves affects every interaction we have and every decision we make.
As many psychology studies attest, self-love and self-care are keys for mental health and well-being, keeping depression and anxiety at bay.
Self-love and self-acceptance are critical aspects of health and happiness. These are the attributes that shape our physical, mental and emotional health in real and concrete ways. When we refuse to accept ourselves, we cut ourselves from the energy that sustains life And this leads to serious health issues.
How to practice self-love and self-care everyday?
- Practice gratitude.
2. Speak more loving words about/towards yourself.
3. Exercise.
4. Get outdoors more.
5. Put down your electronics and unplug for an hour every day.
6. Spend time alone.
7. Drink more water.
Practice good self-care. You will love yourself more, when you take better care of your basic needs. People high in self-love nourish themselves daily through healthy activities, like sound nutrition, exercise, proper sleep, intimacy and healthy social interactions.
