What are the factors which contribute to teenage suicide tendencies

Youth suicide is when a young person, generally categorized as someone below the legal age of majority, deliberately ends their own life. Rates of attempted and completed youth suicide in Western societies and other countries are high.

Things that increase the risk of suicide among teens include: a psychological disorder, especially depression, bipolar disorder, and alcohol and drug use (in fact, about 95% of people who die by suicide have a psychological disorder at the time of death) feelings of distress, irritability, or agitation.

In some cases, teenage commit suicide because they cannot handle the pressure of certain problems in their life. For example, some students commit suicide because they fear that their exam failure will let down the hopes of their parents which are associated with them. Some teens commit suicide due to failure.

Society plays a big role in teen’s suicide. Instead of providing them with support and encouragement, society starts to point their fingers at their errors. This leads to higher risk of suicide in teens.

Ways to prevent teenage suicide:

  • Access to treatment for mental health, physical health and substance abuse disorders.
  • Family and community support system
  • Skills in problem solving, conflict reasons, and non-violent ways of handling disputes.
  • Such education system in which students feel an urge for learning instead of being unable to handle the pressure of study.
  • stay connected and keep everyone safe.
